Motorcycle Fuel Economy Tracker: km/L & Gas Expenses
Log each fill-up and MACHINA works out your motorcycle’s real km/L, what you spend on gas, and what each kilometre costs. When economy drops, it tells you what to check.
What a fill-up records
- Date and odometer — when you filled up and at what reading.
- Volume — litres, or gallons for bikes set to miles.
- Cost — what you paid at the pump, in your region’s currency.
- Full tank or partial — partial top-ups count toward fuel used; only full tanks close a measurement.
- Fuel type and notes — the grade you pumped, the station, anything else.
- Receipt photo — taken with the camera or picked from your photo library.
How km/L is measured
MACHINA uses the full-to-full method. Fill to full, ride, fill to full again: the fuel that went in at the second fill, plus any partial top-ups in between, is what the bike burned over that distance. Economy shows in km/L, or mpg for bikes set to miles.
Your average is total distance over total fuel, not an average of each tank’s km/L, so a few short tanks cannot inflate it.
Fuel economy over time
- Latest tank — this tank’s km/L against the one before it.
- Average — your lifetime km/L and how the latest fill-up moved it.
- Trend chart — km/L across your fill-ups, with your best tank marked.
- Since last fill-up — days and distance since you last filled the tank.
Gas expenses
- Total fuel spend across every fill-up.
- Average price per litre you actually paid.
- Cost per km — what fuel costs you for every kilometre ridden.
- Total volume and fill-ups logged, per motorcycle.
When the numbers look wrong
- A missed fill-up — a tank that reads unusually high usually means a fill-up was not logged. MACHINA leaves that tank out of your average and asks you to add the missing fill-up, or confirm the reading is right.
- A drop in economy — when km/L falls below your recent average, MACHINA flags it and ranks the likely causes for your ride: air filter, spark plug, engine oil, chain or CVT parts, tire pressure, brake drag, fuel quality and riding habits. Parts overdue in your service log move up the list.
- In the health report — a sustained drop points the report at the parts most likely behind it.
Questions
How do I calculate my motorcycle’s km/L?
Fill the tank to full and note the odometer. At the next full fill, divide the distance ridden by the litres you put in. MACHINA does this for every full-to-full span and keeps the running average.
Do I have to fill to full every time?
No. Log partial fill-ups as partial; they count toward fuel used, and economy updates at your next full tank.
What if I forget to log a fill-up?
The next tank reads too good to be real. MACHINA leaves it out of your average until you add the missed fill-up or confirm the reading.
Can it track gas expenses in pesos?
Yes. Costs follow your region’s currency, and MACHINA totals your fuel spend, average price per litre and cost per km.
